We have been advised by the Criminal Records Bureau that changes are being introduced to the checks it carries out before issuing the CRB Standard Disclosure. The result of these changes will be that CRB Standard Disclosures will no longer be sufficient for those working with children or the vulnerable; all individuals applying to work with children or the vulnerable will need to apply for CRB Enhanced Disclosure. In the light of this information, the Board of Directors of NRPSI has decided that CRB Standard Disclosures dated after 01 September 2009 will not be accepted for registration.

Interpreters who have previously provided a CRB Standard Disclosure (dated prior to 01 September 2009) will continue to be listed; therefore we will not be requesting interpreters who are currently listed with a CRB Standard Disclosure to provide a new Security Clearance unless the clearance is dated 2004 or earlier. CRB Disclosure is valid for five years only so we will be requesting an up-to-date security clearance before it expires..

The NRPSI Board has also decided that interpreters who have provided the CRB Enhanced Disclosure may also be listed on the register as being cleared to CRB Standard Disclosure level. If you have provided us with a CRB Enhanced Disclosure and you wish us to add CRB Standard Disclosure to your record please let us know by e-mailing info@iol.org.uk. Please ensure that you quote your registration number in the e-mail.
